Loveland Ski Area will remain closed Wednesday as crews work to restore power after high winds caused outages throughout the resort.
The ski area originally delayed its opening time in hopes of enabling skiers and snowboarders to come visit in the afternoon, but spokesperson Dustin Schaefer said “it’s all up in the air.” Power outages affected all operations, including lifts, and is not expected to be restored until late afternoon Wednesday, Loveland Ski Area posted in an update on social media. Uphill access is currently open and the full ski area is anticipated to reopen on Thursday.
Xcel Energy just provided us with an update, and we don’t expect the power to be restored until later this afternoon. Unfortunately, we will not be able to open today and apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you to everyone who stuck it out with us this morning.

Loveland Ski Area also closed Tuesday because of dangerously high winds, as did Echo Mountain. Wind also affected some lifts at Arapahoe Basin.
A-Basin spokesperson Katherine Fuller said the ski area opened on time Wednesday and frontside lifts, including Black Mountain Express, Molly Hogan and Pallavicini, are all turning. As conditions have improved throughout the morning, several of the uppermost mountain lifts have also opened.
