48-year-old father crashes, dies while skiing with wife and kids at a Colorado resort

A 48-year-old man visiting Colorado from Bethesda, Md., was found dead at Sunlight Mountain Resort near Glenwood Springs on Tuesday.

Job Henning was found unresponsive at the base of a tree while on vacation with his wife and two children.

The Garfield County Coroner’s Office reports that at the time of the incident, Henning was skiing with his teenage daughter, who was further down the mountain and did not witness the incident.

Good Samaritan efforts and Sunlight Ski Patrol could not resuscitate Henning, and he was declared dead soon after the crash.

The cause of death is blunt force injuries to the head, and it’s officially classified as an accident, the coroner’s office said.

It is the third death and first in nearly 20 years at Sunlight Mountain.
