Last week a couple of storms left a dusting of snow across South America ski areas, but this latest system has been far more generous. Resorts across Chile and Argentina have received up to a foot and more over the last day or so as opening day approaches.
Valle Nevado in Chile, who are targetting an opening date of 22nd June, just received 13″ with another 8″ in the forecast. Ski Portillo received 10″ and both Nevados and La Parva over a foot.
In Argentina, Las Lenas had 13″ dumped on them, with the same again forecast over the next week or so. Cerro Catedral received 7″, with a nice 24″ forecast over the next few days.
Resorts open as and when conditions permit, so nailing down exact dates can prove quite difficult. These are the current dates available.
